The Monster within
The brief.
For this project, it was required that a collection of four posters was created that demonstrated the codes, conventions, and themes of the horror genre. It was required that a new narrative was formed, adapting the expectations of the genre while offering the audience surprise, excitement, and a renewal of some of the most classic conventions.
The solution.
The outcome for this project was the development of a horror film poster series called ‘The Monster Within’. The series involves a range of pre-release film posters that use design to visually demonstrate the storyline of a man and his struggle fighting against the demons inside him. The colour scheme of black and dark red represents themes of horror and darkness, and the illustrations underline the classical convention of a werewolves fight and transition from wolf to man. The project posters are featured in public spaces to showcase how the collection would be used to advertise the film.
